Embedding and sustaining Digital Champion projects

Published by Kate Gallant on

Join us this November to learn more about the embedded model of working with Digital Champions, how we can sustain projects and best support digital skills.

Since 2015 One Digital have promoted increased understanding of the different types of Digital Champion models. The One Digital project partners have

  • developed their understanding of the positive advantages and challenges that each model offers
  • recognised the value of a flexible approach and that the models are not fixed, but act as enablers
  • supported projects to find an approach that works for their learners, Champions and partners.

One of the key interests for partners has been the embedded Digital Champion model. There are two types of embedded Digital Champions found in:

  1. Organisations providing key services to the most disadvantaged groups.
Their staff and volunteers through their contact with digitally excluded groups have an opportunity to encourage people to begin to develop their digital skills.
  2. Work-places where Digital Champions support work colleagues’ essential digital skills. They can be a key element of a successful digital transformation project.

Examples of locations for embedded Digital Champions could be a money advice service, public library or local authority housing team.
