Embedding & Sustaining Digital Champion support for digital skills

How can you best embed and sustain Digital Champion projects to support digital inclusion? This was the theme of our Community of Practice event organised by the One Digital partnership in Birmingham in November 2019.

We shared our experience from two years of the One Digital partnership by looking at the barriers, challenges and best practices we have developed to create sustainable digital inclusion projects. We invited four of our most successful projects to present in-depth case studies on how they have embedded digital skills support and achieved a sustainable future for their legacy of digital inclusion. We brought together a great mix of delegates from voluntary, public & private sectors and academia to discuss how we all need to work together to tackle digital skills.

We were also delighted to announce the publication of independent research by Sara Dunn Associates which includes detailed evaluation of the four diverse case study projects from our event. This research report highlights which factors contribute to successful Digital Champion projects, and in particular what contributes to the sustainable embedding of essential digital skills support into an organisation’s service delivery. This Case Study research is part of the independent evaluation of the One Digital collaboration between Age UK, Citizens Online, Clarion Futures, Digital Unite and the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations.

Many thanks to our four partner projects who contributed case study presentations at this event and especially for the time they and their stakeholders (staff, volunteers and beneficiaries) gave to researchers from Sara Dunn Associates for interviews and evaluations
